Dee started his formal martial arts training somewhat later in life in 2008.  Though he had some training in Tae Kwon Do and Aikido in his teens and twenties, it wasn't until he discovered traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu (Budoshin) that he began studying in earnest.

Dee's martial arts studies commenced with Sensei Mark Jordan at the Harvard-Westlake dojo and continued under both Mark and Sensei Steve Castorena when they formed the San Fernando Valley Martial Arts Studio.  It was here that Dee was awarded the rank of Shodan from Sensei Jordan in 2013.  When the SFVMA Studio closed later that year he began training in David Bellman's Mushin Ju Jitsu program in Reseda but left to concentrate on what eventually became the Gentle Lion dojo with Sensei Castorena in 2015.

Dee continues to train and offer instruction as the sempai at Gentle Lion and works full-time in the television industry with a major studio where he specializes in music licensing.
